Very, very good. You spin a story here that appeals to some of our most basic--yet truly greatest--instincts. You've done a really good job. Because I know you want critique, I'll suggest that you read over it specifically looking for repetition. Look for repeats of words and phrases throughout the story, especially close together. It would add a lot of strength to your writing to show a better command of the language, even adding a wider variety of emotion to an already filled story. Again, really strong story.
